About

  • Past

Growing up, I spent a lot of time in the great outdoors, camping, fishing, and exploring nature. I was always fascinated by the beauty and majesty of the wilderness. One of the most important tools I took with me on all my adventures was a trusty knife. Whether I was cooking over a fire, paddling a canoe, or just appreciating the breathtaking sunsets, my knife was always by my side. The memories I have from those experiences, from the sounds and smells of the wilderness to the feel of a sharp blade in my hand, continue to inspire me today.

  • Present

As a business owner, I am proud to run Rainy Day Forge and bring my passion for the outdoors into each knife I make. My love for nature has inspired me to create functional and beautiful tools that bring the beauty of the wilderness into your kitchen. In addition to running the forge, I am also the host of the television series Fire & Slice, where I continue my journey of discovering and exploring the beauty of the wilderness. Furthermore, as the president of the Manitoba Blacksmith Guild, I am dedicated to spreading my knowledge and skills in the art of blacksmithing.

  • Future

As I look towards the future of Rainy Day Forge, I am filled with excitement and anticipation. My goal is to continue creating and producing beautiful, functional knives for an even wider audience. I am dedicated to expanding my shop and increasing my capacity, so that I can bring my unique brand of craftsmanship to even more customers. I will always strive to improve the quality of my knives and to push the boundaries of what is possible with my craft. Whether it's exploring new techniques or simply refining my existing ones, I am always looking for ways to bring more beauty and functionality to the tools I create.

  • Pushing the Craft

Helping create the Manitoba Blacksmith Guild back in 2019 as Vice president, I eventually became the grand puhbah in 2022. The goal, push the craft of blacksmithing in Manitoba through education and celebrate it as an art form.

  • Continuous Education

    Course Complete ✅

    • In the Heritage Series, Jason talks you through the process of forging unplugged. You'll learn the art that goes into making a chef's knife with bare-essential tools: hand hammer, anvil, forge, and grinder.
    • Member of the American Bladesmith Society (Apprentice Smith)
  • Mixing Passions

In 2022, I co-hosted a podcast called Forge Side Chat and during the recording of these episodes, I was inspired to produce a video series about blacksmithing. When I approached Bell/MTS about my idea, they were on board to capture a facet of the craft and Fire & Slice was born. A self-documented 3 episode series where I build a knife and deliver it to someone with a unique story to tell.

- Made in Canada -

As a passionate knife maker, I take great pride in hand crafting each and every one of my knives in Canada. I believe that the process of hand crafting allows for a personal touch that you simply can't get from mass produced knives. Additionally, I am dedicated to using only the best materials available, with a focus on sourcing from Canada whenever possible. This not only supports local businesses, but also helps to ensure that my knives are truly Canadian made. Whether you're a hunter, a bushcraft enthusiast, or just someone who appreciates a well-made knife, you can trust that my handcrafted products are made with care and attention to detail.
