80CRV2 is a low alloy knife steel known for its simplicity in chemical composition, making heat treatment straightforward. It achieves remarkable hardness, rendering it one of the toughest steels available.

(80CRV2 Composition: Carbon 0.8%, Chromium 0.5%, Manganese 0.4%, Vanadium 0.2%, Silicon 0.25%)

On the other hand, 440C stainless steel offers high hardenability and superior corrosion resistance due to its ample chromium content. With larger carbide sizes than AEB-L, it boasts a toothier edge for enduring cutting performance.

(440C SS Composition: 78 – 83.1% iron, 16 – 18% chromium, 1 – 1.2% carbon, 1% max silicon, 1% max manganese, 0.8% molybdenum, 0.04% phosphorus, 0.02% sulphur)

Cisco is amazing

I love the knife I got from Rainy day Forge. It’s the perfect size for all my back country adventures. Also getting the custom etching is awesome. No one can say that it’s there’s with my name on it.

Cisco !!!

To use a common phrase that this knife exceeded my expectations is just not strong enough to describe my first impression. Pick one up an instantly it becomes an extension of your hand. Fingures naturally move to comfortably find the right grip for how you would use it. A finger along the spine for detailed work or skinning, a pinch grip for less fine work but not heavy duty lets your fingerss fall into the contures of the handle. And if needed, lots needed you can grasp and hog down with a full finger grip. The steel is super sharp with a sweep that I can see would fit about 98% of my cutting needs since I am not going to batton kindling with it. This knife is just an outstanding example of a craftsman who put thought into design and application to the highest standard.
